There's the version of tax resolution the late-night commercials sell you. Then there's how it actually works. I'm Darrin Mish, a Tampa tax attorney. I've spent 32 years on the inside of these cases. Here's the real version.
Charles and Mary Bangle, owners of Manco & Manco Pizza, have been known in the past for their kindness and generosity. In their pizza chain business, Charles handled daily operations and Mary handled all cash, including payroll. Recently, however, both have pleaded guilty on multiple accounts of tax evasion.
Specifically, Mary had lied to the IRS when they questioned her about her bank account. Overall, the IRS investigation traced $770,000 in credit card payments for entertainment and leisure expenses, and not the proposed bills like Mary had stated. Charles admitted to not claiming 91,577 dollars in taxes in 2010, and also did not report an additional 263,113 dollars.
Mr Bangle faces a maximum of five years in prison and a 250,000 dollar fine for tax evasion and another possible 10 years in prison with an additional 250,000 dollars owed for structuring cash transactions. Mrs. Bangle faces a maximum of five years in prison and a 250,000 dollar fine herself. The actual sentencing date is set for October 8.
