Philosophy

Darrin believes that tax problems don't define a person. Good people end up in bad situations due to job loss, divorce, medical emergencies, and business failures. Good people sometimes make bad decisions. That doesn't make them bad people. We aren't defined by a few bad choices.

The IRS system can be confusing and intimidating, and people deserve an advocate who will fight for them.

Honest advice. Clear options. Aggressive representation. No judgment. No lectures. Just solutions.

Personal

When he isn't helping clients resolve tax problems, Darrin enjoys spending time with his family in the Tampa Bay area. He is an active member of his local community and believes in giving back through pro bono work and financial literacy education.

Representative Case Outcomes

After 32 years and over $100 million in IRS tax debt resolved, the firm has handled cases across the full spectrum of federal tax controversy. A few representative outcomes from recent engagements (details anonymized to protect client confidentiality).

Offer in Compromise — Manufacturing Business Owner

Client owed $487,000 in personal income tax assessments stemming from a Schedule C business that collapsed during the 2020 pandemic. After 11 months of negotiation and one round of appeals, the IRS accepted a settlement of $34,200 paid over 18 months. Approximately 93% of the original balance eliminated.

Trust Fund Recovery Penalty Defense — Restaurant Owner

IRS proposed a $312,000 TFRP assessment against a restaurant owner whose business was forced into closure. Through Form 4180 representation and a written protest to IRS Appeals, the assessment was reduced to $87,400 and structured into a partial-pay installment agreement based on the client's post-business income. Approximately 72% reduction.

Penalty Abatement — Self-Employed Consultant

Client had accumulated $94,000 in Failure to File and Failure to Pay penalties across four tax years following a serious medical event. Through First Time Abatement on the earliest year and Reasonable Cause arguments supported by medical documentation on the subsequent years, the full $94,000 in penalties was abated. The underlying tax balance was then resolved through a Streamlined Installment Agreement.

Innocent Spouse Relief — Divorced Bookkeeper

Client's ex-husband had run an unreported cash business during the marriage. After divorce, the IRS assessed joint liability of $156,000 against the client. Successful innocent spouse claim under §6015(c) (separation of liability) shifted the full liability to the ex-spouse. Client's personal exposure reduced to zero.

Wage Levy Release — Construction Foreman

IRS issued a Form 668-W wage levy reducing client's biweekly take-home from approximately $2,200 to $580 under Publication 1494. Through immediate Streamlined Installment Agreement setup and a hardship release request, the levy was released within 72 hours of engagement. Client paid $475/month through the IA, restoring most of his paycheck.

Every case is different. The outcomes reflect the specific facts and financial circumstances of each client. The firm does not guarantee specific results, but we will tell you honestly what is realistic for your situation before you commit to representation.
