www.yorknewstimes.com – In recent days, some York County residents have received fraudulent phone calls in which the callers say they are from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid immediately through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the recipient of the call refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the callers have said to become hostile and insulting.
