Most of what you've read online about IRS problems is wrong, or at least misleading. I'm Darrin Mish. I practice tax law in Tampa and I've been doing this for 32 years. Here's what's actually true.
IRS agent Samuel Garza is charged with committing multiple acts of sexual battery against a woman while in the process of auditing her business. The woman, in her fifties, is the owner of a convenience store in Tennessee.
The woman gave testimony for two hours in a preliminary hearing. The DA’s office revealed to the court that is has both audio and video of the incident that confirms her allegations. Garza also signed a sworn statement admitting his own guilt.
His plea at the hearing was “not guilty.” He presently faces two charges of sexual battery and an additional charge of aggravated assault. His bail, originally set at $200,000 was increased to $300,000.
Agents that work for the IRS and similar organizations draw a lot of attention when involved in these types of cases. The public places a great deal of trust in them and, if convicted, their punishment can be stiff.
