In a move to make up money in the Lower Income Pool (LIP), Governor Rick Scott has proposed to increase the taxes on hospitals. However this move has been strongly opposed by the hospitals themselves. In a letter signed by 22 of Florida’s hospitals, the Florida Hospitals Association instead backed a proposal by the Senate to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, which in turn is opposed by the Florida House of Representatives and Governor Rick Scott.
