Federal government employees owe more than $1.14 billion in unpaid taxes in 2014, more than the previous year’s figure by about $65 million. This amount was owed by about 113,800 federal workers whereas the delinquent taxes in 2013 was owed by 116,169 employees. The 2014 number makes up about 4% of the total workforce of 2.85 million workers in the federal government. In contrast, the percentage of the taxpaying public who owe back taxes is 8 to 9%, which is about double that of federal employees. Click here to watch or read more information on IRS Back Taxes.
