IRS breach shows folly of using online services

www.usatoday.com — Thieves accessed 100,000 personal records through the IRS website by using its Get Transcriptservice and entering data gathered elsewhere, the agency said Tuesday. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:

I don’t understand how the IRS could be compromised. For heaven’s sake, there should be protection after protection to prevent this. The agency has every taxpayer’s information.

I’m sorry, but those security questions “that only you can answer” are a joke.
