Sometimes, politics will outdo itself and borderline on the bizarre. This happens regardless of the party that you belong to. When Ted Cruz called for the elimination of the Department of Energy, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Commerce, Education, and the IRS, there’s a lot of eyebrows that get raised.
You also have to assume that such a cut would severe thousands of jobs on both sides of the political divide. Politicians don’t always think before they speak.
Gutting the IRS would pose an interesting scenario indeed. After all, there are people and corporations that would seriously try to evade paying taxes in the wake. While the system seems to be unfair at times, there’s a reason that taxes are collected. They’re used to build roads, fund police and fire departments, build public works, and host of other things.
So again, regardless of the political affiliation, you have to take a closer look at political figures who propose such sweeping changes. Some things in the world need fixing, no doubt, but removal could create even worse problems. If you have IRS challenges, it’s always best to consult with an expert. Do the sensible thing and leave the bickering to the politicians.
