Plaxico Burress former NFL pro, is in hot water with the IRS for failing to pay taxes from 2013. His tax liability was somewhere in the neighborhood of $48,000. His attorney feels confident that Burress hammer out a deal with prosecutors. However, his attorney is not sure if the deal will be able to keep Burress out of jail.
Burress played pro ball for the New York Giants, New York Jets, and the Pittsburg Steelers during his career. He was charged with failure to pay his taxes along with issuing a bad check.
However, this is not the former NFL player’s first brush with the law. In 2009, he was charged with violating a New York weapons law in which he shot himself in the leg. He served two years in prison as a result. After his prison release, he was able to return to the NFL.
