If you thought you have financial worries, you should look at Mayor Robbie Perkins. Mayor Perkins is the mayor of one of North Carolina\u2019s largest cities, Greensboro and is facing an IRS federal tax<\/a> lien, a lawsuit by his wife for child support, foreclosure proceedings on his house and has just come out of another lawsuit by his father in law who alleged that he did not repay a loan. According to news reports, Mayor Perkins allegedly owes back taxes and as a result, the IRS has placed a lien on his property<\/a>.<\/p>\n News reports in the News & Record newspaper state that Mayor Perkins originally owed the IRS at least$86,955 in back taxes. However, the mayor subsequently made statements to the paper that he has paid all but $30,000 of the amount owed. In addition to this, Mayor Perkins\u2019 estranged wife, Caroline is suing him for alimony and child support, on the basis that he made at least $459,000 a year between 2006 and 2010. The Perkins\u2019 are separated since 2011 before Perkins was elected mayor in November last year. \u00a0Click here to watch or read more information on IRS Back Taxes.<\/a><\/p>\n Caroline Perkins\u2019 father, Robert Dabbs also claims he loaned his son in law $16,000 to pay for private school fees for the Perkins\u2019 children. Dabbs later brought a lawsuit against Perkins which was concluded when the judge decided in favor of Perkins because Dabbs admitted there was no written agreement as to when or how the loan was to be repaid to him. Dabbs expressed his obvious dissatisfaction over the decision of the court and claimed that insult was added to injury when Perkins refused to pay for child support to his ex-wife, leaving Dabbs to support his daughter financially.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat kind of man would have children and not pay child support?\u201d Dabbs told The Rhinoceros Times in an article dated November 15th. Mayor Perkins refused to comment other than say, \u201cI refuse to comment and there are two sides to every story.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition, news reports say that Mayor Perkins\u2019 5,900 square foot five bedroom house in upscale Irving Park in Greensboro is also under foreclosure proceedings by a mortgage lender.
\nMayor Perkins\u2019 financial woes have made the news in local newspapers in North Carolina and television stations in the Triad. In a newspaper article November 10, Mayor Perkins said, \u201cThis is a tough environment, and I am, like a lot of our citizens, a victim of a very tough economy. I\u2019m not a victim. I\u2019m saying it is what it is. It\u2019s damn hard out there.\u201d<\/p>\n
