The IRS has raised the threshold for filing a tax lien from $5,000 to $10,000. This means that the IRS cannot file a lien against you unless your tax debt exceeds $10,000.

2. A lien withdrawal will be issued to you if your tax debt does not exceed $25,000 and you are willing to sign a direct debit installment agreement with the IRS. A direct debit installment agreement allows the IRS to withdraw a fixed amount from your bank account every month to pay off your remaining tax liability. If you would like to arrange a direct debit installment agreement, use the Online Payment Agreement application on www.irs.gov to set it up.

3. If you are a small business owner with not more than $25,000 in tax debts, you can make a streamlined installment agreement with the IRS. This entails arranging with your bank to make monthly payments to the IRS to pay off your debts within 24 months.

4.
