All crime needs to happen<\/a> is the presence of temptation and an opportunity.<\/p>\n

Former Clovis, NM, certified public accountant Charles Fleming received sentencing for stealing $296,000 from the New Mexico Cattle Growers Foundation. During 2010 and 2011, Fleming was the Foundation\u2019s treasurer. Twenty checks were deposited during that time into Fleming\u2019s own bank account.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t until 2013 that the president of the Cattle Grower\u2019s Association contacted authorities about Fleming\u2019s shady accounting practices. <\/span><\/p>\n

Fleming was sentenced to 10 years in prison to be followed by five years of supervised probation. He is also required to pay back every dime he embezzled from the Foundation. These crimes are indeed strange because there seems to be a mindset of those who embezzle that the deed will not be discovered. As mentioned, all there needs to be is temptation and the right opportunity. And there\u2019s plenty of that to go around.<\/p>\n
