Here&#039;s the plain-English breakdown.<\/p>\n<p>Some IRS tax evasion cases <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc15.com\/news\/local-news\/investigations\/valley-man-tied-to-unsolved-murders-pleads-guilty-to-tax-evasion-his-lawyer-pushes-abc15-reporter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">are strange<\/a> and leave a great deal to the imagination.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/getirshelp.com\/blog\/tag\/tax-evasion\/\">Such is the case of a Phoenix man, Peter Mizioch, who has pleaded guilty to tax evasion.<\/a> He collected millions in death benefits as a result of the death of three former business partners and wife being murdered. His case for tax evasion has nothing to do with the murder investigations.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"pullquote\">An insurance carrier refused to pay benefits to the Mizioch in 2010 after he tried to collect his wife\u2019s death benefit. The reason is that Mizioch was a suspect in his wife\u2019s murder at the time and perhaps because of the previous three murders in which the death policies were made in his name.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A federal judge, however, later ruled that his wife\u2019s benefits had to be paid.<\/p>\n<p>It only goes to show people that, while some alleged crimes may be hard to solve and prosecute, tax evasion can evoke swift punishment and fines.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, tax evasion can be a serious matter. It is always best to understand and follow the laws.
