Here&#039;s what I want you to understand.<\/p>\n<p>www.wlox.com \u2014 An aggressive and sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers has been making the rounds throughout the country. Callers claim to be employees of the <a href=\"https:\/\/getirshelp.com\/blog\/financial-loss-due-to-tax-loss-exceed-20-million\/\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1831\">Internal Revenue Service<\/a>, but are not.<\/p>\n<p>They sound convincing and use fake names and bogus IRS identification badge numbers. They also alter the caller ID to make it look like the IRS is calling.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell says an elderly woman from Vancleave was a victim of the scam on Monday.
