A new study by researchers in the University of Florida has concluded that when the alcohol tax is increased, it results\u00a0in a drop in alcohol-related car crashes and related health problems. \u00a0So paying for for alcohol has its benefits. \u00a0The research team found that when the price of booze goes up, people change their drinking habits and this brings\u00a0down the DUI incidences.<\/p>\n

A case in point is Illinois where an increase in beer, wine and spirit taxes in 2009 resulted in a 26% decrease in monthly rates of fatal alcohol-related car crashes.<\/p>\n
